The first time I remember drawing anything was in second grade. A female classmate of mine handed me a crudely drawn picture of an ice cream cone and tried to pass it off as a drawing of a penis. I quickly put together the best illustration of my under junk an eight year old could with a set of Crayola crayons. She did what any normal female would do and told the teacher. There wasn’t an excuse in the world that was going to get me out of this one. I cant remember if my parents were told, but if they had been, Im sure i would have remembered how they punished me. From that day forward, my art has been both confusing and weirding people out, and thats the way I like it.
Born in November of 1982, I grew up in the only NYC borough without an underground subway system. The same borough that is home to the Wu Tang Clan, some of the best pizza and the most abrasive personalites in the city. I Spent the first half of my life on nice tree lined street in the north shore of staten island, stuck between shit and more shit. Walking one block over meant almost certain destruction. For a short freckled faced white boy it was a miracle i was able to avoid so many ass kickings as I did. Its seemed the only thing I really ever had full control over at that time was what I wanted to draw. After my penis drawing incident, My parents bought me a set of drawing boards for laying out comic book pages. I graduated to copying all my favorite comic book characters. I still remember laying on my living room floor and copying Iron man from one of my older brothers comics. Once I hit highschool, drawing became secondary, I didn’t stop, I just didn’t really draw other then shitty doodles in my note book when I should have been writing down notes. Most of it consisted of the human form and people in action poses. Art class was the only time I was able to sit and create pieces, as uninspired as they were, they still attracted some attention from the teacher, and she soon started hounding me about colleges. I think I broke her heart when I decided I was going to apply to F.I.T. for Advertising Design. Although she fealt that my choice in major was the wrong one, she let me borrow her portfolio case and wished me luck. Its still in my mothers house and now filled with water damage from a huge flood. Cant give it back now. I didnt realize until two years later that she was right. So I switched to Toy Design.
In 2004 I graduated with my associates in advertising and a bachelors in Toy Design. After graduation I went on to work for Companies such as Fisher Price, Hasbro, The Betesh Group and Spin Master and later continued to work for these companies as an independent freelancer. In 2008 I decided to try my hand at tattooing, and so far it’s been the most challenging thing i’ve ever done. This website is dedicate to showcasing my work, past and present. Most of all, it’s to showcase what I love to do, Create.
As if I’m not busy enough being a spouse, a father and a full time artist, I try to find time to do as much freelance design work as possible, write music with my band and I try to start as many new art projects as I can. I’ve been doing allot more painting and working on on going projects such as writing and illustrating a children’s book for my daughter.
